ATLANTA - Mount Vernon's Rocket League team Max Hutchens ('20), Abbott Wright ('21), and Josh Cagwin ('23) have advanced to the Round of 16 of the GHSA eSports Playoffs.

The team finished the season in eighth place with a record of 6-1. There are currently more than 70 teams in the state all competing in a single division across private, public, and charter schools.

In the first round of 32, the Mustangs won a hard-fought match against the Taylor County Virtual Vikings, taking the series all the way to five games.

Collectively the Mustangs scored 12 goals, had 42 shots, eight saves, and 10 assists.

The Mustangs face the Carrollton High School Trojans this Thursday with a chance to go to the Elite Eight.
