ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon 7th Grade and 8th Grade boys basketball teams have advanced to the 2019-20 Metro-10 Tournament, set to take place Jan. 28-Feb. 1.
The 7th Grade Boys, led by Head Coach De'ire Fox, earned the no. 4 seed after finishing the season with a 5-3 record in league play, including a three-game winning streak to close out the regular season.
The Mustangs will host the no. 5 seeded Walker Wolverines in the Metro-10 Quarterfinals on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 4:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon's Upper Campus Gymnasium.
If the 7th Grade Boys win on Tuesday, the Mustangs will travel to play no. 1 Mt. Paran on Thursday, Jan. 30, in the semifinals.
The 8th Grade Boys, led by Head Coach Chandler Lee, earned the no. 1 seed after finishing 10-0 in league play.
The team earned a first round 'bye' and will host the winner of no. 4 North Cobb and no. 5 Mt. Paran on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 5:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon's Upper Campus Gymnasium.
If the 8th Grade Boys win, they would host the Metro-10 8th Grade Boys Championship on Saturday, Feb. 1. Time and opponent would be determined in the coming days.
The 5/6 Grade Boys, lead by Head Coach Karl Forrest, finished the season 6-0 in the Wesleyan League and earned first round 'bye.'
The Mustangs will play for the League Championship on Saturday, Feb. 1. Opponents and times we be announced once known.
