Girls and Boys Soccer Pick Up Road Wins Over St. Francis

ROSWELL, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity girls and boys soccer teams picked up road wins on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at St. Francis. The varsity girls defeated the Knights 10-0 while the varsity boys claimed a 6-4 victory.

In the varsity girls match, the Mustangs jumped out to a 6-0 lead by halftime and added four goals in the second period to bring the mercy rule into effect.

Emery Hoffman led the way for the Mustangs with four goals.

Teammate Gracie Hudgins had three goals while Audrey O'Toole had two scores. Ruby Turner scored one goal as well.

Mount Vernon also had five assists in the match.

O'Toole, Hudgins, Turner Hoffman and Grace Keller each posted one assist in the victory.

In the nightcap, the varsity boys picked up their second win in as many tries to improve to 2-1 on the young season.

Parker Hollosi recorded a hat trick (three goals) while Brandon Benn, Josh Mills and Simon Tolbert each had one goal apiece.

The varsity girls (3-0) return to action on Thursday, Feb. 20, hosting the Mt. Pisgah Patriots at 4:00 p.m. at the Upper Campus Soccer Field.

The varsity boys will travel to Mt. Pisgah on Thursday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Johns Creek.
