ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon varsity girls and boys soccer teams were in action on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 20, taking on the Mt. Pisgah Patriots in non-region play.
The Varsity Girls (4-0) pushed their winning streak to four games with a 2-1 victory at the Upper Campus Soccer Field.
Mount Vernon scored a goal in each half, the first coming with 3:12 to play in the first period when Ella Ruth Campbell sent in a corner kick that found the foot of Gracie Hudgins.
Tied 1-1 late in the second half, the Mustangs sent in another corner kick that deflected off of a Patriot foot and into the goal for a 2-1 lead and eventual victory.
The Varsity Boys (3-1) pushed their winning streak to three games with a 2-1 victory at Mt. Pisgah.
Parker Hollosi and Josh Mills scored goals for Mount Vernon, who has outscored opponent 16-5 during the current winning streak.
The Mustangs are back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 25, taking on the Weber School Rams.
The Varsity Girls kickoff at 4:30 p.m. at Weber while the Varsity Boys host the Rams for their home opener at 4:30 p.m.
