Eleven Run Fourth Leads Mount Vernon to 11-2 Victory Over North Cobb Christian

KENNESAW, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity softball team posted 11 runs in the fourth inning on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the North Cobb Christian Eagles 11-2 in five innings.

After trailing 1-0 through three innings, the Mustang bats rose to the occasion, racking up seven hits in the big inning.

Kendall Slayden reached on an error to score Grace Westmoreland, Lauren Dove singled in Ruby Burnett, Savanna Messner drew a bases loaded walk, and Bella Dishman tripled to bring home Frances Hunt and Messner.

In the same inning, Reagan Hickey singled to plate Bella Dishman, Sarah Schab doubled to score Ellie Stalzer and Westmoreland, and Whitney Dishman singled to bring in Burnett.

The final run of the inning came when Slayden scored on a passed ball.

Altogether, the Mustangs outhit the Eagles 11-4 in the victory.

Bella Dishman, Hickey and Schab each had two RBI's fort he Mustangs.

Bella Dishman, Hickey, Westmoreland, and Dove each recorded two hits for Mount Vernon as well.

Schab picked up the win in the circle for the Mustangs.

The senior tossed five innings, allowed two runs on four hits and struck out seven batters.

The Mustangs (9-1) return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 16, traveling to Westminster.

First pitch against the Wildcats is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
