Mustangs Take Down St. Francis Knights on the Road, 3-0

MILTON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity volleyball team avenged an early season loss by taking down the St. Francis Knights 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 30.

With the victory, the Mustangs have now won three straight matches and four of their past five.

Mount Vernon won the first set 25-16, took the second set 25-13 and finished off the match with a 25-22 victory in the third set.

Junior Ella Dawson totaled eight aces in the victory, while sophomore Karen Bell totaled 11 kills.

Senior Anjali Singh also finished with eight kills.

"A lot of our girls contributed in many ways and we played together as a team," Head Coach Sharon Burnette said after the match.

The Mustangs return to the court on Thursday, Oct. 1, hosting Mt. Paran Christian School.

First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. inside Mount Vernon's Upper Campus Gymnasium.
