Mustangs Fall to Wesleyan 24-0, Gear up for Class-A Private State Playoffs

PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity football team closed out the 2020 regular season on Friday, Nov. 20, falling to the Wesleyan School Wolves 24-0 at Henderson-Robinson Field.

The Mustangs will now turn their attention to the GHSA Class-A Private State Playoffs, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 27.

After falling to Wesleyan, the Mustangs will be the no. 3 seed from Region 5-1A.

Mount Vernon will travel to take on Athens Academy on Friday night.

The Spartans (8-1) are the no. 2 seed from Region 8-1A.

Kickoff for Friday's first round playoff game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Slaughter Field.

The Spartans and Mustangs (5-5) last met on Nov. 16, 2018 in the second round of the state playoffs with Athens Academy winning 27-13.
