ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon varsity boys basketball team dropped its home opener on Tuesday night, Dec. 1, falling to the Walker School Wolverines 68-50 at the Upper Campus Gymnasium.
The Wolverines jumped out to a 15-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and outscored the Mustangs 20-15 in the second period for a 35-20 lead at halftime.
Walker ended the game outscoring Mount Vernon 33-30 to take the win.
Keith Williams and AJ Patterson each totaled 12 points while Dylan Holbrook finished with 11 points.
The Mustangs hit six 3-pointers in the game as well.
The Wolverines were led by a trio of scorers in double figures: DJ Dennis (13), Omari Daniel (13), and Alex Puffe (12).
The Wolverines capitalized from behind the arc as well, hitting eight 3-pointers.
The Mustangs (0-1) return to action on Friday, Dec. 4, hosting Whitefield Academy.
Game time against the Wolfpack is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Campus Gym.
