Boys Hoops Claims First Win of Season with 84-32 Victory Over Whitefield

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon varsity boys basketball team pick up its first victory over the 2020-21 campaign on Friday night, Dec. 4, toppling the Whitefield Academy Wolpack 84-32 at the Upper Campus Gymnasium.

Mount Vernon led 26-5 at the end of the first quarter and went on a 26-9 run in the second period for a 52-14 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, the Mustangs outscored the Wolfpack 32-18 to secure the win.

Four players finished in double figured for scoring for the Mustangs: Cam Jasper (18), Chase Clemson (15), Keith Williams (13) and Dylan Holbrook 11.

Clemmons dished out seven assists in the winning bid while William brought down 11 rebounds for a double-double.

The Mustangs caught fire from behind the arc, hitting 13 3-pointers.

Jasper totaled nearly half of Mount Vernon's 3-pointers with six.

The Mustangs (1-1) return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 8, hosting Atlanta Jewish Academy.

Game time against the Lions is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. inside Mount Vernon's Upper Campus Gymnasium.
