ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon varsity girls and boys soccer teams each picked up victories over the St. Francis Knights on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 23.
The varsity girls won their Senior Night match at home 10-0 while the varsity boys claimed a 9-0 victory on the road.
In the varsity girls match, Emery Hoffman netted five of Mount Vernon's 10 goals.
Audrey O'Toole finished with a hat trick (three goals), while Taylor Keller and Emily Raeside each tallied one score.
Mount Vernon led 6-0 at halftime before adding four more goals in the second period to bring the mercy rule into effect.
Keller also had four assists in the match while teammate Raeside picked up two assists.
In the boys match at St. Francis, Jamal Arif scored five goals to pace the Mustangs to victory.
Parker Hollosi added two goals while Liam O'Leary and Moritz Martin each had one score.
Josh Mills led the squad with three assists on the day. Jack Allen and Zion Wharton also added one assist each.
With the win the varsity boys have now won back-to-back matches with 12-0 goal differential.
The varsity girls (2-1) and varsity boys (2-2) return to the pitch on Thursday, Feb. 25, traveling to Walker.
The varsity girls match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. with the varsity boys to follow at 7 p.m. in Marietta, Ga.
