Girls Soccer Takes Down Walker Wolverines on the Road 2-1, Boys Win in Overtime 4-3

MARIETTA, Ga - The Mount Vernon varsity girls and boys soccer teams were in action on Thursday, Feb. 25, taking on the Walker School Wolverines at Robertson Field.

The varsity girls came away with a 2-1 victory while the varsity boys triumphed in overtime 4-3.

Emma Markland scored at the 31:31 mark off a free kick to give Mount Vernon a 1-0 lead.

After a Walker score, the Mustangs went ahead 2-1 with 10:15 to play when Audrey O'Toole struck from 30-yards out for a score.

In the varsity boys match, the Mustangs and Wolverines battled to a 3-3 tie at the end of regulation.

In overtime, Jamal Arif put the Mustangs ahead late in extra time for the game-winning score.

Parker Hollosi had a big day on the pitch as well, netting a hat trick (three goals).

The varsity boys (3-2) return to action next Wednesday, March 3, traveling to the Weber School to take on the Rams at 4 p.m.

The varsity girls (3-1) are back in action next week as well, traveling to Sandy Creek on Thursday, March 4 to take on the Patriots.

First kick is scheduled for 5:55 p.m. in Tyrone, Ga.
