Girls and Boys Soccer Pick Up Region Road Victories at Galloway

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon varsity girls and boys soccer teams completed a region sweep of the Galloway Scots on Tuesday afternoon, April 6, with the varsity girls blanking the Scots 5-0 followed by a 7-1 triumph by the varsity boys.

In the girls match, the Mustangs scored three goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Emma Marland and Emery Hoffman each scored one goal to put the Mustangs ahead.

The final goal of the half came with 3:00 left on the clock when Ella Parker found the back of the net.

In the second half, the Mustangs added two more goals to seal the 5-0 victory.

Emily Raeside scored off an assist from Hoffman with 32:51 to play in the match for a 4-0 lead.

Hoffman scored her second goal just over 15 minutes later on an Audrey O'Toole assist.

With the victory, the Mustangs have won three straight, outscoring their opponents 14-3 and securing two shutouts.

In the varsity boys contest, Parker Hollosi stole the show leading Mount Vernon to a 7-1 victory.

Hollosi netted five goals while teammates Jack Allen and Trey Tiffin each had one goal.

Mount Vernon led 4-0 at halftime before adding three more goals in the second period.

Josh Mills and Allen each had two assists in the winning bid.

Zion Wharton and Korey Philpot also had one assist as well.

The varsity girls (7-2) return to the pitch on. Wednesday, April 7, hosting Whitefield Academy.

Kickoff against the Wolfpack is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Mount Vernon's Upper Campus Stadium Field.

The varsity boys (8-4) are back in action on Friday, April 9, welcoming the Atlanta International Eagles with kickoff slated at 5:45 p.m. at the Upper Campus Turf Field.
