Lamar Howard Named Varsity Boys Head Soccer Coach

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Lamar Howard as Varsity Boys Head Soccer Coach, effective for the 2021-22 school year.

Howard comes to Mount Vernon after serving as program director for the varsity boys soccer squad at the Walker School in Marietta, GA.

“We are excited to have Lamar on board to lead our varsity boys soccer program,” Athletic Director Brad Dehem said. “He brings a wealth of experience and expertise and will have a positive impact on our team and within our Mount Vernon community.”

Howard also served as defensive coordinator on the grid iron for Walker from 2014-2018.

His other soccer ventures include serving as JV Head Soccer Coach at St. Martin’s Episcopal School in New Orleans, LA from 2008-2013.

Altogether, Howard has 12 years of coaching experience spanning four sports from the lower school to high school level.

“He will fit in perfectly and will follow our school’s mission,” Dehem added.
