ATLANTA – The Mount Vernon Athletic Department and Athletic Director Brad Dehem are pleased to announce the appointment of Kylie Stewart to Head Varsity Girls and Boys Swim and Dive Coach.

“We are thrilled to have Kylie step in and lead our swim and dive teams,” Dehem said. “She is passionate about the sport, has a great background and will be a perfect fit for our athletes and community.”

Stewart is no stranger to the sport, competing at the college level at the University of Georgia.

She finished her career as the second-fastest 200 backstroker, third-fastest 100 backstroker and fifth-fastest 100 butterflyer in program history.

Stewart also served as Team Captain and was named All-American 20 times.

Perhaps her biggest accomplishment was being a NCAA Champion while swimming for the Bulldogs.

“I am thrilled to be the new varsity swim coach and for the opportunity to help our student athletes grow into phenomenal human beings in the water, and more importantly, out of the water,” Stewart said.

“In this environment, our athletes will grow in their character, sportsmanship, dedication, and determination. Creating a consistent and dynamic program will allow our athletes to enjoy the process of self-growth. With this program, we want our athletes to grow in life and athletic experiences, allowing for a larger team to qualify for our state meet,” Stewart added.

Stewart also has set great goals for the swim and dive program.

“I want to see success in our team while allowing our swimmers to effectively deal with the adversities each athlete will face,” Stewart said. “What they learn to do in the face of adversity helps build character and charisma they will carry through the rest of their lives.”
