Volleyball Begins 2021 Season with 2-0 Wins Over Locust Grove and Young Americans Christian

LOCUST GROVE, Ga - The Mount Vernon varsity volleyball team started the season on the right foot, defeating Locust Grove High School 2-0 before taking a 2-0 victory over Young Americans Christian School on Thursday evening, August 12.

Mount Vernon took the first set against Locust Grove 25-20 followed by a commanding 25-14 victory in the second set to secure the win.

In the match against Young Christian Americans School, the Mustangs allowed just 26 points overall, taking the first set 25-17 and winning the second set 25-9.

Sophia Van Name finished with 11 kills to lead the Mustangs.

Lauren Bell totaled nine kills while racking up four aces as well.

Mount Vernon returns to the court on Saturday, August 14, participating in the A/AA Playdate hosted by Holy Innocents.

The Mustangs (2-0) take on St. Vincent's at 9 a.m., Savannah Country Day at 10 a.m., Calvary Day at 12:30 p.m. and Trinity Christian at 1:30 p.m.
