Volleyball Continues Hot Streak with Victories Over Decatur, Carver

DECATUR, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity volleyball winning streak has reached a season-high 11 wins as the Mustangs defeated Decatur High School and Carver High School 2-0 on the road on Tuesday night, Sept. 7.

Prior to the two victories, the Mustangs swept their competition on Saturday, Sept. 4, winning all four matches played on the day at the Wesleyan Playdate.

Mount Vernon defeated the following schools: Lakeview (2-1), St. Francis (2-1), George Walton (2-1), and host Wesleyan (2-1).

Sophia Van Name led the attackers finishing the day with 30 kills.

Ella Ruth Campbell and Ellie Stalzer gave strong performances in the middle blocker position all day as well.

Service runs by Cate Jacobsen, Kate Dawson, and Anna-Charlotte Toole led to Mount Vernon's third set victory against Wesleyan.

Mount Vernon's last loss came all the way back on August 17.

The Mustangs will look to keep to their winning ways on Tuesday, Sept. 14, hosting a tri-match against Wesleyan and Providence.

First serve against Wesleyan is scheduled for 5 p.m. followed by Providence at 7 p.m.

All matches will take place in the Upper Campus Gymnasium.
