Varsity Softball Takes Down Holy Innocents Bears on the Road 14-6

ATLANTA - After dropping a 4-0 contest to Mt. Paran earlier this week, the Mount Vernon varsity softball team responded in a big way, defeating the Holy Innocents Bears 14-6 on the road on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

The Mustangs totaled 20 hits while allowing just seven to Holy Innocents.

Reagan Hickey led the team with three RBI's while Bella Dishman and Grace Westmoreland each had two RBI's as well.

Mount Vernon trailed 2-1 at the end of the fourth inning.

But the Mustangs plated five runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and sixth innings and four in the final frame.

Kennedy Reynolds, Savanna Messner and Reese Hickey led the team with three hits each.

Reese Hickey picked up the win in the circle for the Mustangs.

The righty tossed a complete game while allowing seven hits, six runs (one earned) and racking up 12 strikeouts.

Mount Vernon returns to action on Monday, Sept. 20, hosting the Walker School.

First pitch against the Wolverines is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Upper Campus Softball Field.
