Volleyball Claims Region 5-1A Regular Season Title with Victories Over Galloway, Hebron Christian

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon varsity volleyball team picked up two wins on Tuesday night, Oct. 5, defeating the Galloway Scots 2-0 followed by a 2-0 victory over Hebron Christian. (Both matches were played at Galloway)

With the wins, the Mustangs captured the 2021 Region 5-1A regular season title and will be the no. 1 seed for the Region Tournament.

Against Galloway, the Mustangs won 25-10 and 25-22.

Against Hebron Christian, the Mustangs were victorious again, winning the first two sets 25-22 and 25-19.

Six Mustangs contributed to a strong offensive showing of 36 kills earned in the four sets played with freshman Sophia Van Name leading with 11 total.

The Mustangs also controlled the pace of the matches with strong showings at the service line led by senior Sydney Carroll and sophomore Cate Jacobsen with for aces each.

The Mustangs (27-8) will now focus their attention on the Region 5-1A Tournament hosted by Wesleyan.
