ATLANTA - After a stellar regular season that saw the Mustangs win 18 games, the Mount Vernon varsity softball team will now shift its focus to the GHSA Class-A Private Stat Tournament.
After finishing as the no. 8 seed and earning a first round bye, the Mustangs will host the Sweet 16 October 20-21.
The Mustangs will welcome the no. 9 seeded Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines for a best-of-three game series.
Games 1 and 2 are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 20. Game 1 will start at 1 p.m. followed by Game 2 at 3:30 p.m. at the Upper Campus Softball Field.
If necessary, a winner-take-all Game 3 will take place on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 3:30 p.m.
Admission for Wednesday's doubleheader is $10. Thursday's admission, if necessary, is set at $7.
Admission is required for ages first grade and up.
Only GHSA coaching passes are allowed for free entry.
Fans can buy tickets via GoFan at (copy and paste the link). A digital ticket will be required for entry into the game.
The Mustangs and Wolverines last met in the 2020 GHSA Class-A Private Sweet 16.
The Wolverines won the series 2-0, winning both games 5-2 and 9-2.
