Girls Cross Country Takes Eighth at GHSA Class-A Private State Meet

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity girls cross country team made program history on Saturday, Nov. 6, placing eighth overall at the GHSA Class-A Private State Meet at Carrollton High School.

The finish is the highest in program history for Mount Vernon in back-to-back state meet appearances.

The Mustangs totaled 292 points overall, 10 points ahead of ninth place North Cobb Christian.

Kennedy Reynolds placed 16th overall and first for Mount Vernon, clocking in at 21:40.

Teammate Samantha McCarthy finished 60th overall with a time of 23:24 while Audrey Thompson was 70th at 23:40.

Gracie Urban placed in the Top-75, crossing the finish line in 74th at 23:43.

Hope Holloway finished 93rd of 193, punching the time clock at 24:23.

"We are extremely proud of the girls and their efforts at the state meet," Head Coach Jennifer Brown said. "We have now made back-to-back appearances at state and I think this experience will further better our team into the future.
