Mustang Tennis Squads Qualify for the GHSA Class-A Private State Tournament

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon varsity girls and boys tennis teams are headed to the GHSA Class-A Private State Tournament!

The varsity girls and boys locked up a top-4 finish at the Region 5-1A Tournament earlier this week to secure a spot in the postseason.

The varsity girls defeated Galloway 3-0 before falling to Holy Innocents on Tuesday, April 12 at Wesleyan.

The Mustangs played for the third or fourth seed in the consolation match on Wednesday, April 13 and defeated Hebron Christian 3-1 to advance.

Mount Vernon (14-3) will take on Mt. Paran, the no. 2 seed from Region 7-1A, in the state tournament.

The varsity boys also earned a spot in the state playoffs as the no. 4 seed.

The Mustangs defeated Galloway 3-2 on Tuesday before falling to Wesleyan later in the day.

In the consolation match, the Mustangs fell to Atlanta International 3-2 on Wednesday to take the no. 4 spot in the region.

Mount Vernon (8-9) will face Mt. Paran, the no. 1 seed from Region 7-1A, in the state tournament.

Dates and start times for the varsity girls and boys state tournament matches will be posted on the school's athletic website in the coming days.
