Varsity Football Drops Season Opener at Wesleyan, 31-7

PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga - The Mount Vernon Varsity Football team dropped its season opener on Friday night, August 19, falling to the Wesleyan School Wolves 31-7 at Robinson Field.

Down 10-0 at halftime, the Mustangs looked for some second half magic.

But the Wolves ended the game on a 21-7 run to take the contest.

The Mustangs scored with seven seconds remaining in the game when quarterback Sam Nazarain rushed in a goal-line touchdown.

Jonathan Gallinaro paced the Mustang in receiving with five catches for 41 yards.

Teammate Cole Palmer netted three receptions for 35 yards as well.

The Mustangs (0-1) are back in action on Friday, August 26, hosting the Harvester Christian Hawks from Douglasville, Ga.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon's newly refurbished Ron Hill Field.
