ATLANTA - Here is a quick recap from Mount Vernon athletics from Thursday, Sept. 1.
SOFTBALL: The Varsity Softball team pushed its winning streak to four games with an 18-0 region victory over the Galloway Scots in three innings at Mustang Park.
The Mustangs scored seven runs in the first inning and 11 in the second to bring the run rule into effect.
Reagan Hickey hit her eighth home run of the year and finished with a team-high four RBI's.
Frances Hunt was 3-for-3 with three RBI's and three runs scored as well.
Five Mustangs had three hits each: Kennedy Reynolds, Grace Westmoreland, Lauren Dove, Hickey, and Hunt.
Westmoreland tossed a no-hitter in the shortened contest and racked up seven strikeouts in the circle.
Mount Vernon is back in action on Thursday, Sept. 8 hosting Mt. Pisgah 5 p.m.
VOLLEYBALL: The Mustangs split their home matches on the day, defeating Elite Scholars 2-0 [25-19/25-17] before falling to the Riverwood Raiders 1-2 [18-25/25-19/10-15]
Mount Vernon is coming into form, winning five of its past seven matches.
The Mustangs are back on the court on Tuesday, Sept. 6, traveling to Roswell, Ga. for a tri-match against Weber and host St. Francis.
First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
