Mustangs Power Past St. Francis Knights in 20-0 Region Road Victory

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Softball team secured its eighth straight win on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 13, defeating the St. Francis Knights 20-0 in three innings in Region 6 action.

Mount Vernon jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning and scored 11 runs in the second to to push the lead to 16-0.

The Mustangs added four more runs in the third inning to seal the win.

Reese Hickey led the Mustang charge at the plate, finishing with five RBI's and three hits.

Kennedy Reynolds and Riley Blatt tallied a hit and two RBI's each in the winning bid.

Priscilla Andrin scored four runs while teammates Maggie Moore, Blatt and Reynolds crossed home three times as well.

Grace Westmoreland picked up the win in the circle for the Mustangs, tossing a no-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Mount Vernon (13-2, 5-1 Reg. 6 DI) returns to the field on Wednesday, Sept. 14, traveling to King's Ridge for another region matchup.

First pitch against the Tigers is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Roadrunner Field in Alpharetta, Ga.
