ATLANTA - With potential inclement weather looming from Hurricane Ian, the Mount Vernon Varsity Football team and Elbert County High School have agreed to push this week's contest up one day to Thursday, Sept. 29.

Moving the game up a day from Friday allows both teams to play without the negative effects that are being forecasted for the upcoming weekend across the state and southeast region.

The Mustangs (3-2) most recently fell to Athens Academy 46-21 while Elbert County (5-0) knocked off Jefferson County on the road 21-3.

Kickoff for Thursday's contest against the Blue Devils is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Granite Bowl in Elberton, Ga.
