ROSWELL, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Softball team picked up its third straight win on Monday night, defeating the Centennial High School Knights 2-0 on the road in non-region action.
Reese Hickey picked up the win in the circle, tossing a complete game with 10 strikeouts.
The righty allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter.
Mount Vernon got on the board in the top of the first inning when Hickey helped her own cause with a RBI single to right field to bring in Kennedy Reynolds for 1-0 lead.
After a scoreless second, the Mustangs added their second and final run of the contest in the top of the third on a Grace Westmoreland RBI single to bring in Reynolds.
Mount Vernon outhit the Knights 10-3 on the day and played flawless defense with no errors.
The Mustangs (19-3) return to the diamond on Wednesday, Oct. 5, hosting North Atlanta High School.
First pitch against the Warriors is set for 4:30 p.m. at Mustang Park.
