Mustangs Take Region Tournament Opener Against Paideia, 3-0

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team shut out of the Paideia Pythons 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Mt. Pisgah's Drummond Center to advance to the Region 6A-DI semifinals.

The Mustangs took the first set 25-17 and the second set 26-24 before securing the match with a 25-21 victory in the third set.

The Mustangs racked up 14 aces with Kate Dawson leading the way with four.

Lauren Bell and Cate Jacobsen totaled three aces as well.

Mount Vernon finished with 34 kills as Bell finished with 12 to lead the squad.

Claire Jacobsen finished with eight kills, Maggie Sims notched six and Sophia Van Name tallied five as well.

Van Name had all of Mount Vernon's 34 assists.

Bell and Dawson paced the squad with 15 and 13 digs, respectively.

The Mustangs are back on the court to take on the host Mt. Pisgah Patriots on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

First serve in the best three-out-of-five match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Drummond Center.
