MARIETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball season came to a close on Saturday night, Oct. 29 with the Mustangs falling on the road to the Mt. Bethel Eagles 3-0 in the GHSA Class-A Final Four.
The Mustangs dropped the first set 26-24 and were bested in the second set 25-12.
The Eagles closed out the match in the third set with a 25-23 triumph to advance to the State Championship match.
Sophia Van Name led the team with three aces and 13 kills.
Taylor Docka finished with five kills while teammates Lauren Bell and Maggie Sims each tallied four.
Three players finished in double figures in digs: Kate Dawson (15), Bell (13) and Van Name (13).
Anna-Charlotte Toole led the squad in assists with 16 as well.
With their Final Four appearance, the Varsity Volleyball team is now the only crew in school history to advance past the Elite 8 in the GHSA era.
Mount Vernon will graduate two seniors from the 2022 roster in Bell and Sims.
