ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Tennis Teams were in action on Thursday, Jan. 26, taking on crosstown rival Holy Innocents at the Chastain Park Tennis Center.
The Varsity Boys (2-0) were victorious 4-1 while the Varsity Girls (0-1) fell to the Golden Bears 1-4.
In the boys match, Liam O'Leary won and no. 1 singles 8-2 while teammate Christopher Collins earned the win at no. 3 ingles 8-3.
The Mustangs needed just one win at doubles to take the win.
In the end, they picked up both as Kiefer Hurtado/Nico Tur won at no. 1 doubles 8-2 and Benjamin Reagin/Sam Hodges triumphed at no. 2 doubles 8-3.
On the girls side of the court, Mount Vernon picked up one win at no. 2 singles with Daniel O'Leary dominating her match 8-0.
The Mustangs are back on the court on Monday, Jan. 30 hosting Dunwoody High School in their first home match of the 2023 season.
First serve for both teams against the Wildcats is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Sandy Springs Tennis Center.
