SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Tennis teams returned to the court on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 8, hosting the Weber School Rams in the first region match of the year.
Both squads came away with victories as the Varsity Boys won 5-0 and the Varsity Girls cruising to a 4-1 win.
Firing on all cylinders, the five lines of the Varsity Boys only lost 10 games total.
Liam O'Leary took no. 1 singles 8-3, Cadyn Dawson took no. 2 singles 8-2, and Christopher Collins took no. 3 singles 8-2.
Kiefer Hurtado & Sam Hodges only gave up one game en route to an 8-1 triumph at no. 1 doubles.
Jac Crouch & Benjamin Reagin also had a decisive win (8-2) at no. 2 doubles.
On the girls side of the net, Sofia Tur (no. 1 singles) and Daniela O'Leary (no. 2 singles) both won in convincing fashion 8-0.
Annabel France and Sadie Hutchens snagged the win at no. 1 doubles 8-2.
Hunter Reese Giardino and Brooke Nazarian won their first Varsity match together at no. 2 doubles 8-2.
The Varsity Boys (4-1) and Varsity Girls (3-1) are back on the court on Monday, Feb. 13 traveling to Fulton Science Academy.
First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Wills Park in Alpharetta, Ga.
