SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Tennis squads kept to their winning ways of late by defeating the Mount Pisgah Patriots on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 14 at the Sandy Springs Tennis Center capturing region wins in the process.
The Varsity Boys shut out the Patriots 5-0 to move to 2-0 in region play.
The Mustangs only dropped eight games total in the match as well.
At no. 1 singles, Liam O'Leary won 8-1 while no. 2 singles Cadyn Dawson posted the same victorious score.
Christopher Collins also won easily 8-3 at no. 3 singles.
Kiefer Hurtado and Nico Tur breezed to 8-0 win at no. 1 doubles while Jac Crouch and Benjamin Reagin posted an 8-3 win at no. 2 doubles to preserve the shutout.
The Varsity Girls seized their match as well, winning 4-1 and moving to 2-0 in region.
Sofia Tur showed no mercy, taking her no. 1 singles opponent out quickly at 8-0.
Daniela O'Leary also had an easy day at no. 2 singles, winning 8-2.
Annabel France and Sadie Hutchens had an impressive outing at no. 1 doubles, cruising to an 8-3 win.
Kate Duncan and Taylor Gravely also scored a hard-earned second win in as many days with their dramatic 8-6 victory at no. 2 doubles.
The Varsity Boys (6-1) and Varsity Girls (5-1) are back on the court on Thursday, Feb. 16 hosting Atlanta International in a key region match.
First serve is set for 3 p.m. at Sandy Springs Tennis Center.
