MILTON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Soccer teams returned to the pitch on Monday, March 13, traveling to Saint Francis to take on the Knights in Region 6-1A battle.

In the first match of the day the Varsity Girls (4-1) blanked the Knights, winning 10-0.

Karoline Lundstrom and Macy Leask each finished with a hat track in the first half.

Other first half goals included: Taylor Keller (2), and Ruby Turner.

After leading 9-0 at halftime, the Mustangs needed just one goal to bring the mercy rule into effect.

Lundstrom made sure to do so, securing her fourth goal with seven minutes gone by in the second half to give the Mustangs the win.

Keller and Rachel Reeve each had one assist in the winning bid as well.

Riley Blatt was in goal in the first half for the Mustangs while Bella Champney played keeper in the second period.

Mount Vernon totaled 15 shots on the day.

In the boys match, the Mustangs (3-3) grinded out a win late, scoring two second half goals to take the 2-0 shutout over the Knights.

George Walmsley and Moritz Martin each netted a goal to propel the Mustangs to victory.

Mount Vernon finished with nine shots in the match and keeper Harrison Estenson totaled two saves.

The Mustangs are back on the field on Tuesday, March 14, hosting the Galloway School Scots in a key Region 6-1A match-up.

Kickoff for the varsity girls match is scheduled for 3:30 with the varsity boys to follow at 5:30 p.m. at Ron Hill Field.
