Tennis Continues Hot Streak with Region Sweep of Mt. Bethel Eagles

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Tennis teams continued their post-break winning ways on Wednesday afternoon, March 15, each defeating the Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Eagles 5-0 at the Sandy Springs Tennis Center.

In the Varsity Boys match, the boys lost just five games total.

Liam O'Leary (no. 1 singles), Cadyn Dawson (no. 2 singles) and Christopher Collins (no. 3 singles) each picked up 8-0 wins on the day.

In doubles action, Kiefer Hurtado & Nico Tur (no. 1 doubles) won easily 8-3, while Jac Crouch & Sam Hodges (no. 2 doubles) made quick work of their opponent, winning 8-2.

The Varsity Girls also made quick work of the competition to remain unbeaten in region play.

Like the Varsity Boys, the Varsity Girls only lost five games total.

Sofia Tur (no. 1 singles) and Daniela O'Leary (no. 2 singles) posted swift 8-0 victories.

Annabel France & Sadie Hutchens (no. 1 doubles) rolled to an 8-1 win, while Hunter Reese Giardino & Brooke Nazarian (no. 2 doubles) were victorious, 8-0.

Perhaps the story of the day was Reagan Wissman (no. 3 singles), who battled injury during her match, finished her singles match on a 6-3 run to win 8-4.

The Varsity Boys (8-2, 4-1 Reg. 6-1A DI) and the Varsity Girls (8-1, 5-0 Reg. 61A DI) are back on the court on Thursday, March 16 for their Senior Day matches hosting King's Ridge Christian School.

First serve against the Tigers is set for 3 p.m. at the Sandy Springs Tennis Center.
