MABLETON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity boys and girls tennis teams hit the court on Wednesday afternoon, March 22, taking on the Whitefield Wolfpack on the road in Region 6-1A DI play.

Both squads continued their winning ways with the boys winning 3-2 while the girls secured a 4-1 victory.

Liam O'Leary took the first set at no. 1 singles 6-1. Interestingly enough, O'Leary led 5-3 in the second set when his strings broke on his racket, forcing him to borrow one from his teammates.

Down 5-6 in the second set, O'Leary would go on to win 11 straight points to secure the victory 7-6.

At no. 2 singles, Cadyn Dawson also won his first set 6-1 and responded with a 6-3 win in the second set.

Kiefer Hurtado & Nico Tur pulled off an impressive win in the first set 7-6 (7-5).

The duo would take the second set 6-1 to earn the win.

In girls play, the Mustangs maintained their unbeaten status in the region by winning 4-1 over the Wolfpack.

At no. 1 singles, Sofia Tur cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

Daniela O'Leary avenged Tuesday's loss with an easy 6-0, 6-1 win at no. 2 singles.

Annabel France & Sadie Hutchens at no. 1 doubles and Hunter Reese Giardino & Brooke Nazarian at no. 2 doubles both won 6-2, 6-1.

The Varsity Boys (11-2, 7-1 Reg. 6-1A DI) and Varsity Girls (11-1, 8-0) are back on the court to close out the week with region matches at Paideia on Thursday afternoon, March 23.
