DUNWOODY, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls tennis team was in action on Monday afternoon, March 27, taking on the Atlanta International School Eagles in the Region 6-1A DI Tournament Semifinals at Dunwoody Country Club.
The match proved to be no problem as the Mustangs shut out the Eagles 3-0 to advance while also securing a State Playoff berth in April.
The Mustangs maintained their unbeaten status in the region while taking three identical match wins at all three singles spots.
Sofia Tur (no. 1 singles), Daniela O'Leary (no. 2 singles), and Regan Wissman (no. 3 singles) all blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
"It was a beautiful day after the rain pushed through," Head Coach Sheldon Staples said. "Our girls played hard and I'm so proud of them."
The Mustangs return to play on Wednesday, March 29, taking on either Mount Pisgah or Paideia in the Region Tournament Semifinals.
The match will be played on the campus of Whitefield Academy at 9 a.m. in Mableton, Ga.
