DUNWOODY, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Tennis team has advanced to the Region 6-1A DI Tournament Semifinals.
The Mustangs did that with a 3-0 win over Mt. Pisgah on Tuesday afternoon, March 28 at Dunwoody Country Club.
The victory also secures a State Playoff berth for Mount Vernon.
All three wins were in straight sets and came at no. 3 singles (Christopher Collins 6-3, 6-0), no. 1 doubles (Kiefer Hurtado & Nico Tur 6-1, 6-1), and no. 2 doubles (Jac Crouch & Sam Hodges 6-0, 6-2).
"It was a great day for our varsity boys," Head Coach Sheldon Staples said. "We are excited to move on in the Region Tournament."
Mount Vernon (13-2, 9-1) will take on Whitefield on the semifinal round of the Region Tournament on Wednesday morning, March 29.
First serve against the Wolfpack is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Whitefield Academy in Mableton, Ga.
