Track & Field Recap: 6th Annual Georgia Spring Break Showdown

MARIETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Track & Field teams were in action over the weekend, competing in the 6th Annual Georgia Spring Break Showdown at Marietta High School on Saturday, April 1.

Several Mustangs had impressive outings including personal state ranking and PR's set.

Below is a brief recap of how the Mustangs finished.





Kennedy Reynolds, competing on the 400m Hurdles, PR'd with a time of 1:02.61 that placed 3rd overall and was a USA Top 10 time.

The Boys 4x800m Relay team made their season debut in a big fashion as well.

James Knight, Curran Jolly, Haris Flynn and Colin Maher ran a Class A-D1 top season time while setting a new school record of 8:20.46.

Colin Maher was not done as he finished Top 6 overall in the boys 800m with a new PR of 1:57.98, vaulting him to the top of the State rankings for 1A-D1.

Nagari Tophia jumped to no. 2 in the State rankings in the Boys 400m for 1A-D1 with a season best time of 50.54.

-Mary Morgan Walker - Girls Shot Put

-Elizabeth Ramos - Girls 100m

-Sumirra Dirir - Girls 100m

-Gracie Urban - Girls 1600m/Girls 800m

-Frankie Whelan - Girls 1600m

-Josh Cagwin- Boys 1600m

-Meredith Dunlap - Girls 200m


"I am really proud of how the team competed and it's evident that our team is taking shape at the right time of the season" Head Coach Seymour Adlam said. "This is directly attributed to the work they have put in."

The Mustangs are back in action on Wednesday, April 5, travel to Mount Pisgah for a meet.

Events are set to begin at 4 p.m. at the Patriot Athletic Campus.
