Boys Lacrosse Secures 16-14 Victory at Whitefield

MABLETON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Lacrosse team snapped a one-game slide on Wednesday afternoon, April 5, defeating the Whitefield Wolfpack in come-from-behind fashion 16-14 at WolfPack Stadium.

Mount Vernon trailed 5-3 at the end of the first quarter but went on a 5-2 run in the second period to lead 8-7 at halftime.

The Mustangs erupted in the third quarter, scoring eight goals while not allowing one score to Whitefield.

The Mustangs held off a 5-0 run by Whitefield in the fourth quarter to preserve the win.

Cole Palmer led the team with eight goals scored while Chase Perry, Jake Hutchens, and Jackson Scotchie each netted two.

Palmer and teammate Henry Stalzer finished with two assists as well.

Michael Pozzobon totaled 21 saves in goal for the Mustangs.

Despite being outshot 53-21, the Mustangs posted a shooting percentage of 51.6

The Mustangs had a stellar clear percentage at 66.7 with 15 turnovers.

Mount Vernon forced Whitefield into committing 20 turns.

The Mustangs (4-3) are back on the field on Wednesday, April 12, hosting Ola High School.

Face-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Ron Hill Field.
