ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Baseball team rallied from a two-run deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning, propelling the squad to a 5-3 region victory over the Saint Francis Knights on Wednesday afternoon, April 12, at Mustang Park.

With one out, the bases loaded and the game knotted at 3-3, Bennett Bogdanchik singled to right field to bring in Nate Thomas and Brooks Champney to give the Mustangs a 5-3 lead.

Landon Brice would retire the side in the top of the seventh, with the last out fittingly fielded by Bogdanchik to end the game.

Mount Vernon led 1-0 after the third inning, scoring on a Dylan Holbrook ground out that plated Avery Anderson.

Both starting pitchers would settle in until the sixth when Saint Francis tied the game and took the lead in the top half of the inning.

Mark Buelow reached on a Mustang error that scored Jackson Westmoreland to even the game at 1-1.

Two batters later, Luke Hill doubled to left field to bring Matthew Pressnall and Buelow to give the Knights a temporary 3-1 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, Holden Baker got one run back on a single to right field that scored Holbrook to make it a 3-2 game.

After loading the bases and Alec Fahlbusch at the plate, the Knights surrendered a wild pitch that brought home Ethan Pajot to tie the game at 3-3.

One batter later, Bogdanchik struck with his late-game magic.

Brice tossed a complete game to earn the win, allowing three runs (none earned), four hits, and three walks with seven strikeouts.

Buelow was tagged with the loss for the Knights.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Mustang Park.
