ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Lacrosse team picked up its second consecutive win on Wednesday afternoon, April 12, defeating Ola High School 18-0 at Ron Hill Field.

Mount Vernon scored early and often, jumping out to an 8-0 lead after the first period.

The Mustangs added six goals in the second quarter to bring the running clock into effect for the rest of the match.

Mount Vernon pushed across three more goals in the third and another in the fourth to seal the win.

Cole Palmer led the team in scoring with six goals, Jackson Scotchie scored three times and teammates Chase Perry, Liam O'Toole and Jake Hutchens netted two goals.

Ben Matthews, William McCallum and Ben Perry each had one goal as well.

Palmer also paced the team in assists with six.

Scotchie totaled three assists while Hutchens finished with two.

The Mustangs outshot Ola 39-9 in the match and finished with a 46.2 shooting percentage.

Mount Vernon controlled the possessions for nearly 70 percent of the match while forcing 24 turnovers.

The Mustangs (5-3) return to play on Friday, April 14, traveling to the Walker School for a non-region match.

Face-off against the Wolverines is set for 4:30 p.m. at Robertson Field in Marietta, Ga.
