Track and Field Recap: Region Meet Day 1 (April 25)

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Track and Field teams were in action on Tuesday afternoon, April 25 competing at the Region 6-1A DI Meet hosted by Atlanta International School.

Below is a quick recap of event from the first day.










The Boys 4x800m Relay Team consisting of Curran Jolly, Haris Flynn, James Knight and Colin Maher were crowned Region Champions with the second fastest time ran in the classification this year.

The success continued with the Finals in the Girls 100m Hurdles where sophomore Kennedy Reynolds battled back from a slow start to hurdle her way to a Region Championship.

That performance was followed by junior Christopher Kartsonas running a personal best while breaking his own school record in 110m Hurdles and securing the Region Championship medal with a time of 15.32.

All the aforementioned athletes have punched their ticket to GHSA Sectionals on May 6 as well.

Also punching their ticket to Sectionals are Bella Champney in the Girls Triple Jump, Max Moore in the Boys Discus, Aidan Ray in the Boys Long Jump and Haris Flynn in the Boys 1600m Run.

Day Two of the Region Meet is set for Thursday, April 27 at Atlanta International School.
