Cross Country Posts Strong Finishes at Season-Opening Kosh Classic

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country teams hit the trails on Saturday, August 19, competing in the Kosh Classic hosted by Westminster School.

In the Varsity Boys race, the Mustangs placed seventh out of 12 school competing.

Amongst Class-A schools, Mount Vernon finished second in that category.

Down three of their regular runners, the Mustangs totaled 211 points.

Haris Flynn paced the Mustangs, placing sixth overall with a time of 17:17.

Teammate Henry Miller placed 36th with a time of 19:13 as well.

In the Varsity Girls race, the Mustangs took sixth overall with 174 points.

Gracie Urban cross the finish line first for the Mustangs, taking 24th place at 23:46.

Audrey Thompson placed 44th (25:26) and Allie Parker took 45th (25:29) as well.

The Mustangs are back to their running ways, competing at the 2023 Bob Blastow hosted by Alexander High School.

Races are set to begin at 9:25 a.m. at the McIntosh Nature Preserve in Whitesburg, Ga.
