WHITESBURG, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country teams were in action on Saturday morning, August 26, competing in the 2023 Bob Blastow Meet at the McIntosh Nature Preserve hosted by Alexander High School.

The Varsity Boys finished 18th overall while the Varsity Girls took 20th.

In the Varsity Boys meet, Haris Flynn crossed the finish line in 17th place at 16:06.

Teammate Curran Jolly took 50th at 16:56 while Matthew Pierce and Charlie Duerr were inside the Top-200 at 19:44 and 19:47, respectively.

In the Varsity Girls race, Gracie Urban was 68th overall with a time of 21:38.

Audrey Thompson was 114th at 23:16 while Frankie Whelan was 130th (24:06).

The Mustangs are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 9, competing in the Carrollton Invitational.

Races will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Carrollton High School in Carrollton, Ga.
