ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team snagged two region wins on Tuesday night, August 29, defeating the Weber School Rams 2-0 followed by a 2-1 triumph over the host Paideia School Pythons at the Paideia Gymnasium.
In the match against Weber, the Mustangs took the first set with ease 25-8 and completed the shutout in the second set winning 25-13.
Mount Vernon totaled five aces in both the first and second sets with Kate Dawson recording six and Taylor Docka adding four.
The Mustangs were 48 percent with their kill percentage in the first set, completing 10 of 21 attempts.
Mount Vernon continued to capitalize in the second set with a 46 percent kill percentage on 11 of 24 tries.
Claire Jacobsen led the team with eight kills while Emma McKenzie finished with five.
Docka also picked up four kills in the winning bid.
Anna-Charlotte Toole had 13 assists and three digs in the match as well.
In the second match of the night against Paideia, the Mustangs dropped the first set 24-26 but rallied in the second set to win 25-18 to force a decisive third game.
Mount Vernon prevailed late, winning the third game 15-11 to secure the match 2-1.
Jacobsen led the team in kills with 16 over the three game set while Docka finished with nine.
The Mustangs finished with 29 digs with Dawson leading the way with eight.
Mount Vernon (8-7, 6-0 Area 6-1A) returns to the court on Thursday, August 31, hosting North Cobb Christian.
First serve against the Eagles is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Upper Campus Gymnasium.
