ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team picked up a key region victory on Tuesday night, Sept. 26, defeating the St. Francis Knights 2-0 on the road.

Mount Vernon took the first set 25-14 and sealed the match with a 25-16 win in the second set.

The Mustangs controlled the tempo throughout much of the match, finishing with 18 kills, 17 assists, 13 aces and 10 digs.

Taylor Docka, fresh off an All-Tournament appearance at the Hilton Head Island Bash last weekend, led the team with nine kills.

Cate Jacobsen finished with three kills while Claire Jacobsen notched two.

Anna-Charlotte Toole posted nine assists and Hannah Douglas tallied six in the winning bid.

Six different players recorded an ace for the Mustangs, with Charlotte Goerdel and Sydney Brice recording three apiece.

Docka also paced the squad with four digs.

Mount Vernon is back on the court on Thursday, Sept. 28, hosting Miller Grove and North Springs in a non-region tri-match.

First serve against Miller Grove is set for 5:30 p.m. with North Springs to follow at 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Campus Gymnasium.

Mount Vernon will honor five members of the Class of 2024 - Cate Jacobsen, Sydney Brice, Charlotte Goerdel, Abby Etheridge, and Kate Dawson - prior to the 7:30 p.m. match against North Springs for Senior Night.
