ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team picked up two wins on Senior Night, defeating Miller Grove and North Springs 2-0 at the Upper Campus Gymnasium on Thursday, Sept. 28.
In the first match of the night, the Mustangs handled Miller Grove with ease, taking the first set 25-9 before a 25-10 victory in the second set.
The Mustangs finished with 18 aces, 16 kills, 15 assists and eight digs in the match.
Abby Ethridge finished with four aces while Sydney Brice, Emmy Heller and Maggie McKenzie each had three apiece.
Taylor Docka led the team with four kills with Cate Jacobsen and Maggie McKenzie totaling three each.
Emmy Heller had 10 of Mount Vernon's 15 assists and Kate Dawson tallied two digs.
In the nightcap, Mount Vernon bested North Springs in two sets, 30-28 and 25-13.
The Mustangs had 13 aces, six blocks, 21 kills, 20 assists and 43 digs.
Hannah Douglas and Ethridge were the team leaders in aces with three each and Docka finished with 12 kills.
Dawson pushed her dig total to 16 combined for both matches with 14 total against North Springs.
Mount Vernon is back on the court on Thursday, Oct. 5, traveling to Hebron Christian Academy for a non-region tri-match.
The Mustangs take on North Oconee at 6:30 p.m. followed by the host Hebron Christian at 7:30 p.m. at Lions Arena in Dacula, Ga.
