MABLETON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team has advanced to the Area 6-1A Tournament Semifinals.
The Mustangs accomplished that feat with a 3-1 victory over Galloway on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 10 at the Whitefield Academy Athletic Center.
Mount Vernon took the first set 25-13 before dropping the second set 22-25.
The Mustangs rattled off wins in the third and fourth sets to take the win, 25-17 and 25-11.
Mount Vernon totaled 11 aces, 41 kills, 38 assists and 39 digs in the match.
Brook Nazarian paced the team in aces with four while teammate Cate Jacobsen finished with three.
Taylor Docka posted 17 kills and Sophia Hardie netted 10.
Ten different Mustangs finished with at least one dig, with Kate Dawson leading the way at nine.
Claire Jacobsen tallied six digs, Cate Jacobsen finished with five and Docka, Nazarian and Anna-Charlotte Toole each had four digs apiece.
Toole was the leader in assists with 32 as well.
The Mustangs (21-17) return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 11, taking on Whitefield Academy in the semifinal round of the Area Tournament.
First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Whitefield's Athletic Center.
