Cross Country Posts Strong Finishes at GHSA State Meet

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Cross Country teams posted strong finishes at the GHSA 1A-DI State Meet on Friday, Nov. 3 to close out the 2023 season.

The Varsity Girls took fifth place overall while the Varsity Boys finished sixth.

In the Varsity Girls race, the Mustangs posted 174 points.

Kennedy Reynolds placed 10th overall, clocking in at 20:54.

Teammate Gracie Urban finished next for the Varsity Girls, crossing the finish line in 27th place with a time of 22:43.

Audrey Thompson was 43rd overall (23:23) while Frankie Whelan took 50th (23:52).

In the Varsity Boys race, the Mustangs totaled 204 points as a team.

Haris Flynn took second place overall with a time of 16:21 to lead the Mustangs.

Curran Jolly was 12th at 17:04 and Henry Miller was 44th at 18:25.
