Varsity Wrestling Posts Strong Finishes at GHSA Area Traditionals

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Wrestling team placed third overall the GHSA Area Traditionals at Mt. PIsgah's Drummond Center Gymnasium.

Additionally, MV were just seven points off from a runner-up finish.

Mount Vernon qualified 10 wrestlers to the GHSA Sectional round, tying a school record for the number of participants sent set back in 2015.

John Charles Moeser took first place in the 120 lb. weight class, becoming a two-time Area Champions.

106 - Benjamin Easterlin - 2nd
120 - John Charles Moeser - 1st
126 - Nico Oldland - 4th
132 - Matthew Falcone - 5th
138 - Chip Fahlbusch - 2nd
144 - Jack Sharkey - 3rd
150 - Lucas Woolverton - 4th
157 - Ayden Long - 2nd
165 - Dustin Kytle - 3rd
190 - Graham Schwab - 3rd
HWT - Ryley Fuller - 1st

Mount Vernon returns to the mat on Saturday, Feb. 10 for the GHSA Sectionals.

Matches are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. at Social Circle High School in Social Circle, Ga.
