ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Swim & Dive team finished the 2023-24 season this past week, competing at the GHSA 1A-3A State Meet at Westminster and Georgia Tech on Tuesday-Wednesday, Feb. 6-7.
The Varsity Girls placed third overall, marking their best finish in program history.
In dive, Kinsley Baker took home second overall while teammate Gabby Meyerhoff placed fifth overall on Tuesday morning as Westminster.
In the swim preliminaries on Wednesday morning, Mount Vernon had several finalists.
Advancing past the preliminary round were the following:
-Girls 200 medley relay - 3rd
-Boys 200 medley relay - 9th
-Girls 200 free - Sasha Mahl qualified in 8th
-Girls 100 free - Chloe Cappola qualified in 4th
-Girls 200 free relay - 4th
-Boys 200 free relay - 8th
-Girls 100 back - Chloe Cappola qualified in 8th
-Girls 100 breast - Sasha Mahl qualified in 6th
-Boys 100 breast - Grant Sober qualified 9th
-Girls 400 free relay - 4th
-Boys 400 free relay - 7th
Later in the day, MV posted more top finishes including:
-Girls 200 medley relay - 3rd in State
-Girls 200 free - Sasha Mahl - 5th in State
-Girls 100 free - Chloe Cappola - 4th in State
-Boys 200 free relay - 10th in State
-Girls 200 free relay - 4th in State
-Girls 100 backstroke - Chloe Cappola - 4th in State
-Boys 100 breast - Grant Sober - 8th in State
-Girls 100 breast - Sasha Mahl - 6th in State
-Boys 400 free relay - 10th in State
-Girls 400 free relay - 4th in State
